Print of the Fountain of the Lions of Granada

The illustration of the "Fountain of the Lions" print evokes the Fountain of the Lions in the Alhambra. Instead of surrounding the basin, the lions circle a pomegranate, the city's symbolic fruit.

Each of the 12 lions represents a typical element of Granada, and together they reflect the city's rich culture, heritage, and customs:

  • Lion: Nasrid Tilework
  • Lion: Day of the Cross
  • Lion: Sierra Nevada
  • Lion: Mariana Pineda
  • Lion: Inlaid Woodwork
  • Lion: Musical Scene
  • Lion: Our Lady of Sorrows
  • Lion: Reeds and Tapas
  • Lion: Fajalauza Pottery
  • Lion: Corpus Christi Tarasca
  • Lion: Federico García Lorca
  • Lion: Sacromonte Zambra

Features:

  • Digital reproduction.
  • Printed on 200 gsm coated paper.
  • Dimensions: 30 x 40 cm.
  • Frame not included.

The Lions of Granada, a small but vibrant artistic tribe born from the hand of illustrator Olalla Ruiz, known as the Lion Tamer. This project revolves around a simple yet profound idea: to create unique and exclusive Lions, full of personality and inspired by our ancestors, the twelve lions of the Alhambra Fountain.

As we've mentioned, Olalla, the Lion Tamer, is an illustrator. From Monday to Friday, she spent hours in front of the computer, drawing on a graphics tablet. On weekends, she emerged from her studio and took her most personal work to the design and craft markets of Granada. Tired of so many pixels, she looked at her hands and saw how clean they were. She needed to return to more traditional artistic techniques: touching the materials, getting her hands dirty, experimenting with techniques, making mistakes without being able to undo them… In short, to step away from the screens. At the markets, many visitors approached her stall and asked if she had any illustrations of Granada they could take home as souvenirs. She thought about offering something from her city. Something different from everything else, and paying homage to Granada through her drawings.
